Brown Sugar Garlic Tofu Recipe

Brown Sugar Garlic Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons chopped chives OR 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch

Recipe: Brown Sugar Garlic Tofu

Press the tofu to remove excess moisture and dice into bite sized cubes. Heat a pan over medium heat and steam the tofu in 3 tablespoons of water until warm and the water has evaporated. Meanwhile, press the garlic and combine all the ingredients except the cornstarch in a cup. Pour the glaze over the tofu to cover. Dissolve the cornstarch in a little water and add to the glaze to thicken. Remove and serve hot.

I just made this, and wow!, is it ever tasty. I skipped the onion powder, but added in some diced carrots and onions, and a dash of ginger and Chinese five-spice powder. Thanks for the recipe! :)
