There are some things that I put my mind to right away, like updating the recipe page, starting my 40 push-ups in 40 days program, and getting stars in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Other things I could put off for months if I really don’t want to do them. Cleaning out my food bins and pantry was one of this.
Yesterday, I started the process of purging everything from here that I can’t eat anymore. Since I went gluten-free in February, things were around from September that nobody touched. Some of the more “surprising” things I found:
- Celstial teas
- Chocolate with wafers in it
- My Mojamix
- Whole Grain oatmeal “blends”
- Dry roasted peanuts
It was a wake up call to say the least sitting down and reading ingredients. Peanuts that I’ve been snacking on all along turned out to have very weird ingredients that I was not OK; I thought they were just peanuts and salt but I must have been confusing them with another made by the same company.
What are your pantry staples? I’m sure wherever I’ll be I’ll have oats and peanut butter stashed away somewhere.
I realize diagnosed Celiacs need gluten-free oats but my intolerance isn’t that big and neither is my wallet.
The combination of unsalted peanut butter and maple butter is dreamy. Dare I say it might be better than Mighty Maple? It definitely tastes a lot fresher.
Like I said, I could never go without peanut butter in my pantry

I had no idea that those teas had gluten in them! Crazy! I’ve tried to cut back on the peanut butter in my life (when you are mindlessly eating it straight from the jar every day it tends to not be a good thing), but I just can’t seem to keep it out of my pantry!

I don’t like tea but I am surprised to see that they have gluten in them. If you ever tell me that coffee has gluten I will hate you…haha!

Wow some of them I would have never thought have gluten! What are you going to do with all the leftover stuff?
