I’ve been considering making a big purchase lately: an iTouch. But after trying out my mom’s(yes, she has one, and she doesn’t even know how to turn it on or what to “touch”) I was disappointed that it doesn’t have a camera yet. So I think I’ll wait until they’re made with one before I make that purchase. Oh, and if I ever get an iTouch, I’ll officially be calling it my “Twitter machine”.
Yes, I’ll confess: I’m a Twitter addict. In today’s world of “keeping up with the Joneses”, I’ve made a Twitter account and facebook page for myself. And last night I was juggling the #fitblog hash along with the #dlist hash while watching TV, working on my book, and occasionally throwing in a #wtfamIdoingIdontevenknowanymorethisisfingridiculous. As much as I love, roll up, and snort Twitter, it kills me. It kills me that social media is something you can “study” and even take a class on these days. That’s not schooling. A class should be based on an Agamemnon or differential equations or Cicero(can you tell I’m a Classics major?)–not Twitter.
That being said, I really like playing around with it. And whereas a childhood dream of mine might have been to win $1,000,000 dollars on Survivor, now I really wouldn’t mind that many followers on Twitter(I’ll take both!). Besides that, I actually think it’s fun to hear what my celebrities are up to(Kathy Griffin), and die a little inside when one of them tweets me back(Alex Guarnaschelli).

So where does that leave me? As for now, I’m iTouchless and I’m not willing to try and “play the social media” game or make it into a career; I feel like I(and most of America) is better than that. But I am willing to use it as a platform to put my real talents out there and get where I want to be. And I’m always willing to fuck around and embarrass myself a bit.
What do you think about social media? Do you twat? If so, what fun hash would you like all your tweets to have? I’m torn between #cryforattention or #shamelessplug. Speaking of a shameless plug(see how good that transition was?), you have until Friday at noon to enter my ice cream maker giveaway!

I agree #shamelessplug would definitely be for me.
I’m a sucker. I really want an Iphone. gahh!

Not a Twitterer. On Facebook every now and then…honestly, I really think people spend too much time behind this stuff. When you get away from the computer and all this stuff – holy crap – there’s REAL life and REAL friends that make you think – “what the hell was I doing before?! -wasting time and life…” . Averie’s talked about this and too true.

So I just created a twitter account the other night. I don’t really see what all the fuss is about, but I got one so I could link my blog to it. Congratulations Evan, you are the 5th person, (I think??) that I follow now

I have a love hate relationship with social media. I was very anti twitter for a while but created one due to my blog.
However, I have to say that I love that I can connect with family and friends that are so far away. To be able to keep up with their lives, and they mine. Being a military family we are never in a place for too long and Facebook and twitter helps me keep in touch.
For example today as I watched my home country of Honduras play their first game in this world cup I was tweeting and Facebooking (?) with my family all around the world. From TX, CA, to Scotland and Honduras.
There is a lot of good in social media.

I do not tweet, twat, twirp or anything on twitter. I had technical difficulty setting up an account and still have not figured it out. I do love facebook. We live so far away from family that I now feel closer to them because we can keep in touch. I also like sharing my blog stuff on it. I can talk back and forth with people and I like that aspect!

I haven’t yet joined the twitter world because I’m pretty sure I’d be a tweeting machine. I’ve actually pulled up the site with the intention of joining a few times, so I think my twitterless days are numbered…

I hated on Twitter for so long before I got one. It’s technically my “blog Twitter,” and I only follow/tweet blog people, but I still have one. It’s strangely addictive!

I actually love my twitter…that is how I found out MJ died and much more media news! I don’t do fbook like I did way back when it started (my freshman year of college) but think it can be good to see how friends are in other countries, etc.
It is weird because I tweet such random things and I have bloggers and friends following me so I don’t know what to say..especially since everyone doesn’t know I blog.

Oh…and I have an Ipod touch since it came with my comp last year…I won’t lie…I love it. I downloaded an app this summer for a music fest. I went to and it saved my friends and I many times when we wanted to see who was playing on what stage at what time. It had the schedule, map, etc.

I do have a twitter account, but I don’t tweet nearly as much as I would like to. I don’t have a smart phone or an iTouch, so the only time I get to tweet is when I’m home on the computer.

YOU NEED AN iPOD!

I love being connected, but I WISH I was more knowledgeable about social media. Luckily, I’m married to a tech geek, and he tells me what to do so that my blog/social media life seems up to date.

I don’t tweet and I definitely limit facebook content. For me, privacy is a big issue, so all of this twitter stuff, I don’t care for. If you enjoy it, by all means go for it. As for me, I’ll live my life privately.

We do have a twitter account and a facebook page, and are now following you:) Entertaining post…
